Faraday Future electric car teased ahead of 2017 CES debut

Faraday Future FFZERO1 Concept, unveiled at 2016 Consumer Electronics Show, Las Vegas

Faraday Future has given us our best look yet at its first production model, an electric car confirmed for a debut at the 2017 Consumer Electronics Show.
The car looks to feature a hatch-like design with a form factor similar to the Toyota Prius. It will ride on the now standard “skateboard” platform for electric cars, where the batteries are stored in the floor and an electric motor is mounted at one or both axles.
Faraday Future previewed its platform, dubbed the VPA, at the 2016 CES in the 1,000-horsepower FFZERO1 electric supercar concept. To power its electric cars, Faraday Future will rely on batteries developed in partnership with LG Chem.
The latest teasers come just weeks after it emerged that Faraday Future was behind in payments to the construction firm responsible for building the Chinese-backed startup’s $1 billion plant in Nevada. It’s also been reported that Faraday Future is likely to miss its planned production start date in 2017.
While Faraday Future experiences a few bumps in the road, things appear to be going more smoothly for rival Chinese-backed electric car startup Lucid. The company a week ago revealed prototypes for its first model and announced it had selected a location in Arizona for its new plant. There’s also Karma which is reintroducing the Fisker Karma, this time made in the United States, as the Revero.
